Gemini’s primary destination during most of the year is ‘West Maui’s’ Marine Preserve Honolua Bay, renowned for its superb snorkeling. Alternative snorkeling locations include Cliff-house, Lanai and Turtle Town in Olowalu. While snorkeling along West Maui’s coastline, experience warm waters abundant with sea life. You will see a variety of tropical fish including Hawaii’s State fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, and if you’re lucky an endangered Hawaiian Green Sea turtle ‘Honu’. After snorkeling a hot buffet lunch is served and our complimentary bar is open. During the summer months the crew set sail into the Tradewinds always on the lookout for spinner dolphins ‘Naia’. During the winter months Gemini sets off to look for Maui’s annual visitors, the Humpback Whales ‘Kohola!’
During Maui’s winter whale season (Dec15 – April15) our snorkel tour features the added bonus of whale watching to and from the snorkeling destination of the day. Our experienced captains and crew seek out the humpback whale’s that visit our islands during these gorgeous winter days to be observed from a safe distance. Oftentimes while snorkeling, the sounds of the whales singing can be heard from underwater.
* Gemini loads and unloads our guests directly from the sand of Kaanapali Beach. Beach loading is perfectly safe and often time adds an element of fun and adventure to the tour! However, during days with rougher seas and high winds there is a chance you may get a little wet up to your knees. We recommend only wearing pants that you can roll up and avoiding long dresses and jeans when joining us for a sail! Our captains always ensure the sea and conditions are safe for beach loading and if there is any uncertainty we are forced to cancel the tour to ensure the safety of our guests.
