Maui Brewing Company in Lahaina, HI; Pineapple Mana, Bikini Blonde, POG IPA Beer & More
If you are looking for unique craft beer, there isn’t a better place to get it than at the Maui Brewery Company. From what started off as a small brew pub of seven barrels in 2005, this local company is now making a name for itself in Hawaii as it has found a way to create several flavors unique to the islands. Gemini Sailing Tours is here to talk about this amazing company and what they have to offer.
Maui Brewing Co Focuses on Sustainability
One of the main focuses that Maui Brewing Co has, is creating a smaller carbon footprint. Every aspect of production has a common goal in a strong commitment to sustainability. Back in 2007, they were only one of 10 breweries that were producing and selling their beer in cans. Many people think that glass is a highly sustainable product, but the metal from the locally produced cans used by Maui Brewing Co is 100% sustainable while the glass isn’t. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is their mantra and they live it well.
Pineapple Mana, Coconut Hiwa, Bikini Blonde POG IPA & More
There is a common theme at Maui Brewing Co and that is, to produce unique and non-traditional craft beer. With the diverse agricultural goods that are grown in Hawaii, they have the ability to incorporate that in their beer and have done an excellent job at it. With flavors like Pineapple Mana, Coconut Hiwa and Bikini Blonde, you can expect to take the flavors that are native to the island with each drink. One of the most popular flavors at Maui Brewing Co is POG IPA, brewed with the local passionfruit, oranges and guava. They never use extracts and only use real fruit as they craft these unique beers.
Keeping the Business Local
While there may be opportunities to take their infamous craft beer to the mainland, Maui Brewery Co is local to Hawaii and that is where they intend to stay. They have put Hawaii on the map with their quality beer and want to share a taste of their home with those that come to visit. The owners, Garrett Marrero and his wife Melanie Oxley, take pride in being a Hawaii based company and love to share the taste of Hawaii with those around them, but have never entertained the idea of opening a business on the mainland.
Maui Brewing Company Continues to Grow
When the company started in 2005, they had only 30 employees. Today, they have around 400 people working with them to create a world-class beer native to Hawaii. In the next year they are planning to possibly open two more pubs and expand its brewery by 35,000 square feet.
